OUR Three PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS

Increase Public Safety

We propose a charter amendment that increases the total number of sworn police officers of the Dallas Police Department from approximately 3,000 to at least 4,000 and maintains the ratio of three officers per 1,000 Dallas residents going forward. To ensure we recruit and retain top talent, we propose guaranteeing that the starting salary of the Dallas Police Department be on par with the top five of all city police departments in North Texas.

City Leader Accountability

Like any business’ executive team, city leadership must be held accountable for how our tax dollars are spent. Without criteria for judging success, we cannot set a bar with measurement to demonstrate efficiency and efficacy. We propose a charter amendment that directly ties the city manager’s performance compensation to the assessment of Dallas’ citizens on key areas of their quality of life. Those categories are: crime, cleanliness, panhandling, homelessness, and street repair/road conditions.

Citizen Enforcement

Because we should all have to follow the law, we propose a charter amendment that grants citizen residents the power to go to court to force Dallas bureaucrats to follow the law, including the city’s own city charter including its charter amendments as well as its own ordinances.

Why We’re Doing This

We’re committed Dallas residents and business leaders who want to empower citizens and hold government leaders accountable. We believe that each of these steps will provide greater citizen control and less government politicking. Through these solutions, we will enhance public safety, improve government accountability, and demand fiscal responsibility. Together, we stand as a beacon of change, ensuring that the City of Dallas is a safe, vibrant, and flourishing place for everyone.
